You probably ended up here because you are living in what you would consider a "sun-scorched land." My sun-scorched land has few trees, little grass, cigarette smoke wafting into may safe haven, and angry curses reverberating through our walls into our bedrooms.
Your sun-scorched land may look, smell or sound different than mine. You may have ended up where you are by a different route, may have lived there all of your life, or just arrived. You may feel right at home, or pack up in an instant if someone gave you an out.
Wherever you are, and whatever your experience is in your sun-scorched land, we share in the promise that we can be "like a well-watered garden."
For years I misquoted that scripture. I used to think that it said, "You will be a well-watered garden." But, I was missing a key word ... LIKE. Sometimes the water source isn't there. Sometimes what it seems like you need for simple survival is not available. Yet, miraculously, you will thrive. You will be just like one who has much more than you actually do.
This promise is what called me to relocate to the city a dozen years ago. It is what has kept me here, and what gives me hope for my children who didn't choose this place. Let's revel in this promise together.
What is "sun-scorched" in your land? How have you experienced being like a "well-watered garden"?
